3 V-sts + 4 rows = 8 in. (20.3 cm) with 4 strands of yarn held together. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

Throw is worked with 1 strand of each color yarn (4 strands total) held together.

Editor's Note: When creating fringe using Homespun please note that because of the texture of the yarn the fringe will fray when cut.

If you prefer a non-frayed look you can knot the ends, knit or crochet a fringe, or use hairspray or fray check.

With 1 strand each of A, B, C, and D held together, ch 47.
Row 1 (RS): Dc in 5th ch from hook, ch 1, dc in same ch (V-st made), *sk 2 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch (V-st made); repeat from * to last 2 ch, sk 1 ch, dc in last ch.
Rows 2-25: Ch 3, turn, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch-1 space across, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch.

Fasten off.

Side Edging
From right side, join 1 strand of each yarn with a slip stitch at one corner of long side.

Work 1 row of single crochet evenly spaced along (long) side edge of Throw.

Repeat on opposite side edge.

Weave in ends.

Cut 15 in.

(38 cm) lengths of each color yarn.

For each Fringe, hold 2 strands of each color yarn (8 strands total) together and fold in half.

Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of piece, forming a loop.

Pull ends of Fringe through this loop and tighten.

Place Fringe evenly spaced along short edges of Throw.

Trim Fringe ends evenly, knotting ends to keep yarn from fraying.

ch(s) = chain(s)
ch-space = space previously made
dc = double crochet
RS = right side
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch(es)
