Additional Materials
Afghan crochet hook size J-10 (6 mm), 14 in. (35.5 cm) long
GAUGE:
18 sts + 14 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) over pattern. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
picot: Ch 3, sl st in last sc made.

NOTES:
Afghan is worked in Tunisian crochet (also known as afghan stitch), in which each row is worked twice.

In the first pass, worked in one direction, loops are added to the hook; in the return pass, worked in the opposite direction, loops are worked off the hook.
