GAUGE:
Each square measures 7 1/4” x 7 1/4”. TO INSURE PROPER SIZE, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

FINISHING

Assembly: With cast-on corners touching at center of block, join 4 squares to form a 14 1/2” square block (leaves radiate from center out to corners of block).

Make 12 blocks.

Join blocks to form a panel, 3 blocks by 4 blocks.

Border: On RS, using circular needle, pick up and k 180 sts (30 sts for each square) across one narrow end of panel.

Work in garter st (k each row) and inc 1 st each end of every other row.

Work until there are 8 ridges (16 rows) on RS.

Bind off on next WS row.

Repeat on other narrow end of panel.

Work in same manner, pcking up 240 sts along each side edge.

Neatly sew shaped border edges together to form mitered corners.
