GAUGE:
One Square = 8 x 8 in. (20.5 x 20.5 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
Beg Cl (Beginning Cluster) Ch 4, *(yarn over) twice, insert hook in ring and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice; rep from * 2 more times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Cl (Cluster) *(Yarn over) twice, insert hook in ring and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice; rep from * 3 more times, yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook.

AFGHAN
SQUARE 1 (make 4)
With A, ch 8; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Beg Cl, (ch 4, Cl) 7 times, ch 4; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 8 clusters and 8 ch-4 sps at the end of this rnd.
Fasten off A.
Rnd 2: Join B with sl st in any ch-4 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), 3 dc in same ch-4 sp, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, (ch 6, 4 dc in next 2 ch-4 sps) 3 times, ch 6; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 32 dc and 4 ch-6 sps at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: With B, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 7 dc, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-6 sp, dc in next 8 dc; rep from * 2 more times, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in last ch-6 sp; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 56 dc and 4 ch-3 sps at the end of this rnd.
Fasten off B.
