GAUGE:
20 sts + 27 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
kfb (knit into front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.

sk2p Slip 1 as if to knit, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over – 2 sts decreased.

To work last sk2p in a rnd, slip last 2 sts of rnd, k first st of the next rnd, pass both slipped stitches over.

ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together.

NOTES:
1.

Carry color not in use across wrong side of work.

2.

Tam is worked in the round, so every rnd of Chart 1 and Chart 2 should be read from right to left.

3.

Decreases for top of Tam (crown) are worked following Chart 2.
