GAUGE:
18 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

AFGHAN PATTERN STITCHES Seed st (multiple of 2 sts + 1) Row 1: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * across Rep Row 1 for Seed St. Moss st (multiple of 2 sts + 1) Rows 1 and 4: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * across. Rows 2 and 3: P1, *k1, p1; rep from * across. Rep Rows 1-4 for Irish Moss St. SQUARE A (make 17) With A, cast on 32 sts. Work in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off. SQUARE B (make 16) With B, cast on 33 sts. Work in Seed St until piece measures 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off. SQUARE C (make 16) With C, cast on 37 sts. Work in Moss St until piece measures 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off. FINISHING Sew Squares together following Assembly Diagram. Weave in ends.
