GAUGE:
24 sts + 33 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) using larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

NOTES:
1.

Shrug is made in 2 pieces: an Upper Half and a Lower Half.

Each half consists of half of each sleeve and a center section.

The center section of the Upper Half forms the shoulders and collar.

The center section of the Lower Half forms the back and sides.

2.

The Upper and Lower Halves are joined along the long straight edges.

A 3-needle bind off is used to provide stability.

Cuffs are then worked across the end of each sleeve, and the side and sleeve seams sewn.

The shorter straight edges of the Upper and Lower Halves form the front opening.
