GAUGE:
16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

NOTES:
Pattern is designed to encourage creativity with freeform embroidery.

Change color as desired for embroidery.

INSTRUCTIONS

SCARF
With A, cast on 48 sts.

Divide sts onto 3 double pointed needles and join, being careful not to twist.

Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures about 42 in.

(106.5 cm) from beg.

Bind off.

FINISHING
Flatten Scarf to form a 6 x 42 in.

(15 x 106.5 cm) rectangle.

Seam each end of Scarf closed.

With B and C, and working through both layers, embroider straight sts onto Scarf.

To make even rows of straight sts, follow columns of knit sts.
