GAUGE: 17 stitches + 25 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) with US #8 (5mm) needles BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This turned out beautifully. What a nice pattern. It was easier to do than I expected, but quite time consuming to put the lace on how I wanted it. That said, I made it quite a bit bigger than recommended. All that work, and they can only use it for a month? I wanted them to be able to use it for the first six!
I will be making this again for another expectant mother quite soon.
