GAUGE: 17 sts + 25 rows = 4 in [10 cm] in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

POM-POM
Cut a strip of cardboard the size you want your pompom to be. With one strand each A and B, wrap yarn around cardboard – the more wraps, the fuller the pompom will be. Cut yarn leading to skein. Slide a doubled strand of yarn under center of wraps and knot. Clip loops; remove cardboard. Fluff pompom and trim ends evenly. Use the ends of the knotted strand to attach pompom to top of hat. |
