This wristband is a little more challenging than our simple band because you’ll change colors on the edges! Because the edges are done in stockinette stitch, they roll for a neat finished edge.

SKILL LEVEL:  Easy

SIZE: Child 11-12, Adult Medium
2½ inches x 6 (7) inches [6 cm x 15 (18) cm ]
Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.

Rolled-Edge Sports Band

GAUGE:

16 St sts + 24 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] square BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

When changing colors, don’t forget to twist the old and new yarn together so that you don’t get holes in your piece.

WRISTBAND
With (C) Cast on 2 stitches. Change to (A), cast on 6. Change to (B), cast on 2.

Row 1: With (B), knit 2. Change to (A), knit 6. Change to (C), knit 2.
Row 2: With (C), purl 2. Change to (A), knit 6. Change to (B), purl 2.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until band is 6 (7) inches [6 cm x 15 (18) cm] long. Bind off, leaving an end of 8 inches [20.5 cm] for sewing.

FINISHING
Thread the large-eyed blunt needle with the end of the yarn and sew the ends of the wristband together. Weave in end of yarn and trim.
