GAUGE:
18 St sts + 24 rows = 4 in (10 cm) When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

FINISHING

With (B) Make 8 small pom-poms.

Make the tie on the pom-poms 8 inches [ 20 cm].

Insert the crochet hook from the bottom to the top approximately 1/4 inch [.5 cm] from the end and side of the scarf and pull half of the long yarn that secures the pom-pom through the scarf.

Tie it to the other piece of long yarn so that the pom-pom is attached to the scarf.

Tie it securely -- use at least one more knot than you really think you need just to be sure it won't come loose! Trim ends.

Repeat the procedure for the other side of the scarf so that there are two pom-poms on the outside edges of the same end of the scarf.

Place the last two pom-poms evenly spaced between the ones that are on the scarf.

Note: You may want to tie the pom-poms so they are close to the scarf, or you may want to leave an inch so that the pom-poms hang down and move more/

Repeat at other end of scarf.
