Felted Needle Holder

Lion Brand« Lion« Wool

GAUGE:

16 stitches by 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) with US #8 (5mm) needles before felting When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

All rows are worked in stockinette(knit on right side, purl on wrong side.)

Row 95: Bind off 17 sts, continue to end of row - 23 sts.
Row 96: Bind off 17 sts, - 6 sts.
Work in stockinette until remaining piece is 12 inches [30 cm] in length. This is the tie that will wraps around and keeps the needle holder closed. Bind off all stitches.

FELTING:
Wash Needle Holder by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regular setting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape. For more about felting, click here.

Insert needles through the felt for storage. Felt, once made, will not unravel like knitting does, so if necessary, cut holes in the felt for larger needles.

Felted Needle Holder Reviewed by Nasim Simmons on 2011-10-03 *****
I love this pattern! Super fast and my first felting project that actually felted nicely! I made it a bit wider and I doubled the length so I could fit most of my needles into one holder. Works great!
