GAUGE:
12 stitches by 15 rows = 4" (10 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.
INSTRUCTIONS
HOOK 'BOOK'
With (A) Chain 31
Row 1: with (A), Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across, turn - 30 single crochet Rows: 2-8: Chain 1, turn. Single crochet in each stitch across.
Rows: 9-10: Change to (B), repeat.
Rows: 11-20: Change to (C) and repeat row 2. Work even in sc, changing color in last sc of row in the following color sequence:.
Row 21: D.
Rows 22-23: E.
Rows 24-31: F.
Row 32: G.
Rows 33-65: Repeat rows 1-32
Rows 66-75: Change to A Ch 1, sc in each sc across to last st, fasten off.
Row 76: Skip 13 stitches, join G in 14th stitch, single crochet in next 4 single crochets, turn.
Work even on 4 stitches for 12 inches [30 cm]. This is the tie that will wraps around and keeps the hook book closed. Fasten off.FINISHING:
Weave in ends.FELTING:
Wash Hook Book by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regular setting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape. For more about felting, click here.
Insert Hooks through the felt for storage. Felt, once made, will not unravel like an unfelted piece might, so if necessary, cut holes in the felt for larger hooks..
