GAUGE: 16 single crochet + 16 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

CHANGE PURSE
Divide the yarn into 2 hanks. Dye one hank in desired color.
The un-dyed yarn is color A, dyed yarn is color B.
With A, chain 2
Row 1: Work 1 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook -- 1 single crochet
Row 2: Chain 1, turn. Work 2 single crochet in stitch -- 2 single crochet
Row 3: Change to B. Chain 1, turn. Work 2 single crochet in each of next 2 stitches -- 4 single crochet
Row 4: Chain 1, turn. Single crochet, work 2 single crochet in each of next 2 stitches, single crochet in each of next 2 stitches-- 6 single crochet
Row 5: Change to A. Chain 1, turn. single crochet in first stitch, 2 single crochet in next stitch; single crochet in each stitch to last 2 stitches, 2 single crochet in next stitch, single crochet in last stitch -- 8 single crochet

Row 33: Single crochet 2 stitches together -- 1 single crochet. Fasten off, weave in ends.
FINISHING
With B, work evenly spaced single crochet around edge of piece. Fasten off, weave in ends. Fold piece to make a 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) flap. Seam sides.
With B, make a 4 inch (5 cm) long chain and sew to center of flap for buttonloop. Sew button to front of Purse just below flap.
