Approximately 12 sts and 16 rows over 4 inches (10.2cm) of single crochet When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.
This camera strap cover and pouch were made to fit the strap of the Canon 30D DSLR camera that measures 11/2 x 26 inches (3.8 x 66cm).
Depending on the measurements of your camera strap, you may need to adjust the number of chain stitches you begin with, and the number of rows worked.
Strap (Make 2) To begin: With A, ch 7.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (you now have 6 sc).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures the length of the main fabric portion of your camera strap, turn.
Pointed Edge Row 1: Draw up a loop of B, ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn (6 sc).
Pointed Edge Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Pointed Edge Row 3: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, turn (4 sc).
Pointed Edge Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Pointed Edge Row 5: Ch 1, [sc2tog] twice (2 sc) (fig.
Repeat Pointed Edge Rows 1-5 on the opposite end of the strap.
Sandwich the camera strap between the two crocheted pieces and whipstitch all edges closed.
Lens Cap Pouch Body To begin: With B, ch 14.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (13 sc).
Rows 2-24: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Lens Cap Pouch Flap Row 25: Draw up a loop of A in first sc, ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn (13 sc).
Row 26: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Row 27: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog, turn (11 sc).
Row 28: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Row 29: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog, turn (9 sc).
Row 30: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Row 31: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog, turn (7 sc).
Row 32: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Row 33: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next sc, ch 1 and sk next sc (buttonhole made), sc in next sc, sc2tog, turn (4 sc and 1 ch-1 sp) (fig B).
Row 34: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch-1 sp across, turn.
Row 35: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Fold the bottom edge up to the start of the flap and whipstitch the sides together to form body of the pouch (fig.
Lens Cap Pouch Circle Button To begin: With B, ch 3; join with sl st in first ch to form ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc in center of ring; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Use tail to sew the circle button to the center front of the pouch, aligned with the buttonhole on the pouch flap.
Lens Cap Pouch Back Loop To begin: With B, ch 10.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (9 sc).
Rows 2-11: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Sandwich the camera strap between the pouch and back loop.
Place the loop on the back side of the pouch so that the short sides of the loop align with the short sides of the pouch, and the long sides of the loop are centered across the long sides of the pouch.
Taking care not to sew through the camera strap, use tails to sew the long sides of the loop to the pouch (fig.
