Additional Materials
US 0 (2mm) double-pointed needles (for mittens) US C-2 (2.75mm) crochet hook (for hat and mittens) Small amount of toy stuffing
GAUGE:
16 sts and 25 rows. 4in./10cm square in stockinette stitch worked with US 3 (3.25mm) needles. 19 sts and 28 rows. 4in./10cm square in k1, p1 rib worked with US 3 (3.25mm) needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
M1R: Knit the first stitch on the left needle (now the stitch will be placed on the right needle), pick up the second stitch below the first stitch on the right needle, place it on the left needle and knit into it.

M1L: Pick up second stitch below the first stitch on the left needle, place it onto the left needle and then knit into it; knit the first stitch on the left needle
