Winged Heart Pillows
Lion Brand® Festive Fur - Glitterspun®
GAUGE: 22 sts and 16 rows to 4in.[10cm] over St st using larger needles and Festive Fur. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: The Gathered Rib Stitch (multiple of 4 sts plus 4) Rows 1 and 3 (RS) P1, *k2, p2; rep from *, end k2, p1. Rows 2 and 4 (WS) K1, *p2, k2; rep from *, end p2, k1. Row 5 P1, *inc 1, k1, p2; rep from *end inc 1, k1, p1. Rows 6 and 8 K1, *p3, k2; rep from *, end p3, k1. Row 7 P1, *k3, p2; rep from *, end k3, p1. Row 9 P1, *[inc 1] twice, k1, p2; rep from *, end [inc 1] twice, k1, p1. Row 10 K1, *p5, k2; rep from *, end p5, k1. Row 11 P1, *SKP, k1, k2tog, p2; rep from *, end SKP, k1, k2tog, p1. Row 12 K1, *p3, k2; rep from *, end p3, k1. Row 13 P1, *SK2P, p2; rep from *, end SK2P, p1. Row 14 K1, *inc 1, k2; rep from *, end inc 1, k1. Repeat rows 1–14 for gathered rib. |

WINGS Piece 1 (make 2) With smaller needles and Glitterspun, cast on 32 sts. Work rows 1-14 of gathered rib. Next row (RS) Cast on 4 sts, work Row 1 of gathered rib to end. Cont until rows 1–14 have been worked a total of 4 times, casting on 4 sts at the beg of each row 1—44 sts. Bind off.
Piece 2
(make 2) With smaller needles and Glitterspun, cast on 32 sts. Work rows 1-14 of gathered rib. Work row 1 of gathered rib. Next row (WS) Cast on 4 sts, work row 2 of gathered rib to end. Cont until rows 1–14 have been worked a total of 4 times, and cast on 4 sts at the beg of each row 2—44 sts. Bind off.
HEART (make 2) With larger needles and Festive Fur, cast on 2 sts. Knit one row, purl one row. Cont in St st, inc 1 in first st of every row 28 times—30 sts. Next (inc) row (RS) [Inc 1] twice, work to last 2 sts, [inc 1] twice—34 sts. Purl one row. Cont to work inc every RS row 3 times more—46 sts. Next (inc) row (RS) Inc 1, work to last st, inc 1—48 sts. Work 3 rows even. Rep these last 4 rows 1 time more—52 sts. Work 4 rows even.
SHAPE TOP OF HEART Next (dec) row (RS)
K1, SKP, k19, k2tog, k1, sl rem 25 sts to holder. Cont to work decs every RS row twice more—19 sts. Purl one row. Next (dec) row (RS) K1, SKP, k3, SKP, k3, k2tog, k3, k2tog, k1—15 sts. Purl one row. Next (dec) row (RS) K1, SKP, k2, SKP, k1, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k1—11 sts. Purl one row. Next (dec) row (RS) K1, SKP, k1, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k1—8 sts. Purl one row. Next (dec) row (RS) [SKP] twice, [k2tog] twice—4 sts. Next (dec) row (WS) P2tog twice—2 sts. Bind off. Sl 25 sts from holder and work as above.
FINISHING
For each wing, sew Piece 1 to Piece 2, leaving short, straight side edge open. Stuff and sew edge closed. Sew 2 pieces of heart together, leaving opening on one side for stuffing. Stuff pillow, sew opening closed. Sew wings to back side of heart. |

Hi, I saw the heart pillow,and as Valentines Day is very close, I did not want the wings, so knitted the pillow without wings. I found the pattern very easy to follow and the project did not take very long to do.
One problem I found was in the pattern at the end of increasing it states that you should have 52 stitches on your needles when in fact you have 50, and the following row needs only 50 stitches also.
A good pattern and I will make more.
