GAUGE:
24 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in rnds (k every rnd), with 2 strands of yarn held tog. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
Note: Do not use an existing st to work a M1 or M1P.

Both are worked using only the horizontal thread lying between needles as explained below.

M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle.

Knit this new st through the back loop - 1 st increased.

M1P (make 1 as if to purl) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between the needles and placing it onto the left needle.

Purl this new st through the back loop - 1 st increased.

INSTRUCTIONS

SOCK (make 2)Cast on following one of these methods:

Long Tail Cast On Hold 2 larger dpn together, with one above the other.

With 1 strand each of A and B held together, and using long tail cast on, cast on 24 sts as follows:*Cast 1 st onto top needle, cast 1 st onto bottom needle; rep from * until 24 sts have been cast on - 12 sts on each needle, with last st cast onto bottom needle.

Optional Cast On With 1 strand each of A and B held together, and larger dpn, use your preferred method to cast on 24 sts onto one needle. With 2 additional larger dpns held together, with one above the other, sl 1 st at a time alternately onto the 2 additional dpns - 12 sts onto each needle, with last st on bottom needle.

Toe Redistribute the sts onto 4 larger dpns as follows: With first needle, k6 sts from top dpn, with second needle, k rem 6 sts from top dpn, place marker, with third needle, k6 sts from bottom dpn, with fourth needle, k rem 6 sts from bottom dpn, place marker. Two markers placed, with 12 sts between each marker.
