GAUGE:
16 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Textured st using larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

End with a WS row means that the last row you work should be a WS row, and the next row that you are ready to work will be a RS row.

Before going on to the next section of the pattern, take a few minutes to look carefully at the WS and RS of your work.

As you continue working, you will be changing the st count by increasing sts or decreasing sts.

You will continue to work the Textured st, but as the st count changes, Row 1 of the Textured st won't always begin with a knit.3.

By taking the time to study how your work looks on both the WS and RS, it shouldn't be difficult for you to determine which st to begin with.
