GAUGE:
9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) with 2 strands of yarn held tog. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop.

Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop.

Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:
1.

Hat is worked in continuous rnds, from lower edge up to top of Hat.

Do not join at ends of rnds.

2.

Hat is worked with 2 strands of yarn held tog throughout.

3.

If you find it difficult to join the beg ch into a ring without twisting the ch, Rnd 1 can be worked as a row, as follows: With 2 strands of yarn held tog, and leaving a long beg yarn tail, ch 41, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 40 sts at the end of this row.

Taking care not to twist Row 1, work first st of Rnd 2 into first st of Row 1.

Proceed with Rnd 2.

Use beg yarn tail to sew first st of Row 1 to lower edge of last st of Row 1.
