Additional Materials
5 buttons, 1/2 in. (13 mm) diameter
GAUGE:
15 hdc + 11 1/2 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
hdc2tog (hdc 2 sts together) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop.

Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop.

Yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:
1. Cardigan is crocheted in one piece to underarm, then sts are added for sleeves.

Work then continues to back neck, where piece is divided for fronts.

The fronts are worked separately, from neck to lower front edge.
2. Cardigan is worked in hdc.

Sc edging is worked after side and sleeve seams are sewn.
