NOTES:
1.

Follow loom manual instructions on WEAVING for how to set up the warp, weave the weft, and remove weaving from the loom and refer to pattern L10739 Loom Woven Elephant.
2.

Warp and weft are worked with 2 strands of B, C or D or 1 strand of A.
3.

Using a felting needle when making a woven project is optional, but very helpful.

Felting needles can be used to secure and bury ends, tie down a floated strand of yarn (hiding errors is very satisfying), smooth out bumps in the fabric when woven pieces are gathered, as well as adding decorative embellishments.

Felting needles work with acrylic yarns.

Instructions for using the felting needle are not included in this pattern; simply follow the directions on the needle packaging.

FINISHING
Note: Unless otherwise specified, use matching color yarn threaded into the yarn needle provided with the loom to sew pieces together.

Body and Head
With the wrong sides together, whipstitch the 2 Body and Head pieces together, leaving the short straight sides open for stuffing.

Stuff the Body and Head.

Pin the square Base piece into the opening of the body for base.

Push the corners of the square in, to make the base round.

Whipstitch base to lower edges of body.

Weave in ends.

Shape Body and Head

With the wrong sides together, whipstitch the 2 arch shaped Cheeks together along the curved edge leaving the straight bottom edge open.

Stuff the piece, and sew to head.

Weave in ends.

Cut a 36 in.

(91.5 cm) strand of A.

Fold strand in half, then wrap doubled strand around neck twice.

Pull tightly to shape neck.

Knot securely.

Use felting needle to secure the knot.

Weave in ends.

Front Legs

For each Front Leg, pull up on the strands of yarn at one corner of one square to gather the edge for the paw.

With A threaded into yarn needle, whipstitch the center back seam of the Front Leg.

Stuff Front Leg.

Sew Front Leg to body.

Repeat with remaining Front Leg.

Back Legs

With the wrong sides together, whipstitch the 2 small arch shaped Back Legs together around the curved edge, leaving the straight bottom edge open.

Stuff the Back Leg then sew the bottom edge together.

Foot
For each Foot, pull up on the strands of yarn to gather 2 edges of one Foot square, then thread one yarn end into the needle and sew through the other 2 edges then pull up to gather.

Stuff the Foot.

Tie the yarn ends together to secure.

Sew a Foot to the front of each Back Leg.

Sew Back Legs to sides of body.

Shape Face

Cut a 2 yd (2 m) length of A and fold in half.

Thread folded end into needle provided with loom.

Insert needle into center of face and draw fold through.

Remove needle and draw yarn ends through loop and pull to tighten, anchoring the length of A.

Cheek:
Thread one end of the anchored length of A into the needle.

Insert needle into face close to anchoring point and come out at the seam line of the face arch shape (if the face were a clock, you would bring the needle out at 2 o'clock).

Pinch a golf ball size section of the face and wrap the end around the section several times, pull strand tight, and sew over the wraps to secure.

Repeat on other side of face, using other end of anchored length of A, for 2nd cheek.

With A, sew through bridge of nose, from side to side, to shape it.

With pink floss, embroider a pink 'X' for nose and mouth.

Sew a small stitch at the center of the 'X' to secure the strands.

Sew buttons firmly to Bunny's face for eyes.

Ears

For each Ear, place one A square on top of one B square, with yarn ends in the same place on both squares.

Needle felt the squares together OR sew the outside edges of the squares together.

Tie opposite corners of each ear together, so that A square is on the outside and B square is on the inside.

Sew the lower edges of one Ear to each side of head, taking care to hide the B edges inside the Ear.

Carefully weave in ends.

Sew a few stitches to shape the Ears to the head OR use felting needles to felt a small section the midpoint of the Ear so that it shapes and attaches to the head.

Tail

Follow instructions for the Foot.

Sew Tail to back of Bunny.

Carrot Leaves

Weave the yarn ends at each corner into the center of the square.

Fold the square in half, diagonally, with yarn ends on the outside.

Fold the piece diagonally again.

Wrap the yarn ends around the point to shape the base of the Leaves.

Sew over the wraps to secure them.

Carrot

Fold one corner up for base of Carrot.

Fold side edges to center line, then fold again.

Sew folded side edges together to form a cone shape.

Put base of Leaves into top of cone and sew Leaves in place.

If desired, sew Carrot to Bunny.

Weave in ends.
