GAUGE:
16 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

NOTES:
1.

Slip the first st of every row as if to knit, with the yarn in back of the work as it faces you.

2.

The pattern st consists of 42 rows.

Take the time to study your work as you do the first few repeats of the pattern.

If you feel comfortable about 'reading' your sts, so that you can tell by looking at your work which row you are on, you may not need to refer to the written pattern.
