INSTRUCTIONS



CUPCAKE TOPPERS SKULL FRONT Note: Skull is worked in continuous rnds, with RS facing throughout; do not join or turn.

With A, ch 2.

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch.

Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in next 3 sts, (sc, hdc) in next st, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc, sc) in next st - 12 sts at the end of this rnd.

Rnd 3: (Sl st, hdc) in next st, (hdc, dc) in next st, 2 dc in next 2 sts, (dc, hdc) in next st, (hdc, sl st) in st, sl st in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next st, sl st in next st - 20 sts.

Fasten off.

SKULL BACK With A, ch 2.

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch.

Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - 12 sts.

Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around - 18 sts.Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.



FINISHING Eyes (make 2) With B, ch 3.

Join with sl st in first ch.

Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.

Using tail, sew eyes to Skull Front.

With B, embroider straight st mouth and nose on Skull Front.

With yarn tail, sew Skull Back to Skull Front, leaving a small section at lower edge unsewn.

Weave in ends.Cut a skewer to about 4 1/2 in.

(11.5 cm) long.

Apply a small amount of glue to cut end of skewer, then insert skewer into lower edge of Skull between Front and Back, at unsewn section.



SPIDER FRONT With B, ch 3; join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3, work 12 dc into ring; join with sl st to top of beg ch-3 - 13 sts.

First Group of 4 Legs *(Sl st in next st, ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across) twice, (sl st in next st, ch 8, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across) twice; sl st in next st.

Fasten off.

Second Group of 4 Legs Note: The second group of legs is worked from the WS.

We found that the legs fell into a better position when worked this way.

Turn Front of Spider over, so that you can work on the WS.

From WS of Spider, join B with a sl st 2 sts away from first leg.

Rep from * of First Group of Legs.

BACK With B, ch 2.

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch.

Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 sc at the end of this rnd.Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.



FINISHING With A, embroider straight st eyes.

With yarn tail sew Front to Back, leaving a small section at lower edge unsewn.

Weave in ends.

Cut a skewer to about 4 1/2 in.

(11.5 cm) long.

Apply a small amount of glue to cut end of skewer, then insert skewer into lower edge of Spider between Front and Back, at unsewn section.
