GAUGE:
9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in rnds (k every rnd) with larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

NOTES:
1.

Hat is worked in the rnd on double pointed needles.

2.

Color is changed following Stripe Sequence.

INSTRUCTIONS

STRIPE SEQUENCEWork *3 rnds with A, 6 rnds with B; repeat from * for Stripe Sequence.

HAT With smaller needles and A, cast on 44 sts.

Divide sts onto 4 needles (11 sts per needle).

Place marker for beg of rnd.

Join by working the first st on the left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.

Work in St st (k every rnd), changing color following Stripe Sequence until piece measures about 3 in.

(7.5 cm) from beg.

Change to larger needles and continue in St st and Stripe Sequence until piece measures about 12 in.

(30.5 cm) from beg.

Decrease Rnd: Continuing in Stripe Sequence, (k2tog) around - 22 sts.Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail.

Thread tail through remaining sts and pull to gather.

Knot securely.

FINISHING Weave in ends.
