GAUGE:
6 hdc + 5 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm). One Square = about 26 x 26 in. (66 x 66 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
hdc2tog (hdc 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

hdc3tog (hdc 3 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 7 loops on hook – 2 sts decreased.

NOTES:
1.

Afghan is made from 4 Squares sewn together following a diagram.

2.

Each Square is made from 2 triangles.

Stitches are increased and decreased to shape the sections.

3.

Color is changed following a Stripe Sequence.

To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over.

Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.

Fasten off old color or carry it along side edge of piece.
