GAUGE:
14 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

NOTES:
1.

Lower portion of Hat is worked in 4 pieces: 2 Granny Squares, Front, and Back.

The pieces are sewn tog to form a circle, with Granny Squares as earflaps.

Sts are worked around the top edge of the lower portion to make the upper portion of the Hat.

2.

Granny Squares are worked in joined rnds, changing color on every rnd, with RS facing at all times.

Work over yarn ends as you go to reduce the number of ends to weave in later.

3.

Use colors from B yarn pack as desired.
