Additional Materials
Circular knitting needle size 8 (5 mm), 40 in. (101.5 cm) long
GAUGE:
25 sts + 48 rows = about 6 in. (15 cm) in Garter st (k every row). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

NOTES:
1.

Afghan is made from 72 Squares worked in Garter st (k every row), changing color to make stripes.

2.

To reduce the amount of sewing needed to assemble the Afghan, Squares are worked in 12 blocks.

Each block is made of 6 Squares.

3.

For each block, Square 1 is worked, then Squares 2-5 of that block are worked from picked up sts.

4.

Refer to 6 Square Block diagram for direction of work.

5.

Following an Assembly Diagram, the 12 blocks are sewed together to make the Afghan.

6.

A rev St st (p on RS, k on WS) edge is worked along each side of assembled Afghan.

This edge is sewed to WS to make a hemmed edge.
