GAUGE:
14 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

sc3tog (sc 3 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook – 2 sts decreased.

NOTES:
1.

Scarf is made in 2 Halves.

2.

Each Half begins with a Granny Square worked in rnds.

Sts are worked across 2 sides of the Square, then Scarf is worked in rows.

3.

Work over yarn ends as you go to reduce the number of ends to weave in later.

4.

To change color at the end of row, work last st of old color to last yarn over.

Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.

Fasten off old color.

5.

Edging is worked in the rnd around outside edge of Scarf.
