GAUGE:

7 stitches + 12 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row).
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO THIS PROJECT.

NOTES:

1. Top is worked in 2 pieces, Front and Back; Front is worked in 3 colors, as desired.
2. Top is worked on large needles to create an open fabric.
3. Top can be worn with seams on the outside or on the inside.




INSTRUCTIONS



FRONT Note: Front is worked in 3 colors. Work as many rows as desired in each color. Cast on 48 stitches. Work in Garter stitch (knit every row), working as many rows as desired in each color, until piece measures 18 in. (45.5 cm) from beginning. Bind off.
BACK Cast on 48 stitches. Work in Garter stitch changing colors as desired, or as necessary, until piece measures same as Front. Bind off.
FINISHING Edging Row 1: With crochet hook, join yarn with slip stitch at one side of cast on edge of Back, chain 1, work single crochet evenly spaced across cast on edge. Row 2: Chain 1, turn, single crochet in each stitch across. Fasten off. Repeat for cast on edge of Front. Place markers 9 in. (23 cm) in from each side on bound off edge of Back and Front. Cut a length of yarn and using your fingers, draw yarn through both edges to sew Front to Back from outer edges to markers for shoulder seams. Place markers 8 in. (20.5 cm) from shoulder seam on each side of Top. Cut a length of yarn and using your fingers, draw yarn through both edges to sew Front to Back from lower edge to marker for side seams. Note: If desired, you may use a sewing needle and a doubled length of sewing thread to seam shoulders and side seams. Weave in ends.
