GAUGE:
16 sts + 22 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) over St st (K on RS, p on WS). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
PATTERN STITCH Seed St (worked over an odd number of sts) Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.

Row 2: K the purl sts and p the knit sts.

Rep Row 2 for Seed st.

NOTES:
1.

Afghan is worked in 3 Panels that are worked separately, then sewn together.

2.

Each panel is worked in alternating Seed and St st (k on RS, p on WS) sections, changing colors as specified.

3.

Sts for borders are picked up along edges of completed Afghan.

A circular needle is used to accommodate the number of border sts.

4.

To eliminate the need for multiple knitting needles, instructions are for the Panels to be worked on the circular needle, back and forth in rows as if working on straight needles.

If you prefer, Panels can be worked on straight needles.
