Additional Materials
Circular knitting needle size 7 (4.5 mm), 40 in. (101.5 cm) long (for neckband)
GAUGE:
19 sts + 28 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Slip Stitch pattern. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.

ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog – 1 st decreased.

STRIPE SEQUENCE With 2 strands of B held together, work 2 rows; with 2 strands of C held together, work 2 rows; with 2 strands of D held together, work 2 rows; with 2 strands of E held together, work 2 rows; with 1 strand of A, work 2 rows.

NOTES:
1.

Cardigan is worked in 7 pieces, Back, 2 Fronts, 2 Sleeves and 2 Pockets.

2.

Cardigan pieces are worked on straight needles; circular needle is used only for neckband.

3.

Colors B, C, D and E are always worked with 2 strands of yarn held together.

4.

Only one color is used on each row.

Colors are changed every 2 rows.

To change color, simply begin knitting with new color, cut old color.

5.

End with a WS row means that the last row you work should be a WS row, and the next row that you are ready to work will be a RS row.

6.

When you see '– 12 sts' in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have at the end of that specific row.
