Anne's Spencer
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®
Pattern Number: annesspencer
No Regency wardrobe would be complete without the cropped Spencer jacket.

Originally designed for men, it is said to be named for the Earl of Spencer, who favored such coats; but women know a good design when they see it.

Though the style may be borrowed from him, the shape is distinctly hers, making this coat as fashionable now as it was then.

Worked in a simple stitch to complement the jacket's simple lines, you can easily crochet this while watching your favorite Austen movies. GAUGE:
13 sc and 16 rows = 4" (10 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
LONG SINGLE CROCHET (long sc): Insert hook in designated st, draw through long lp, keeping lp taut but not tight yo and draw through both lps on hk.

NOTES:
Ch 1 and/or sl st(s) at beg of rows do not count as st(s) throughout.

hk = hook
