Lion Brand® Lion® Chenille
GAUGE: 15 sc = 4", working back and forth in rows. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: To inc Work 2 sc in one sc. To dec Draw up lp in each of 2 sc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook.

TEDDY
HEAD: Starting at front with Color A, ch 2. Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, but work in continuous rnds. Mark beg of rnds with a safety pin, moving it up each rnd. Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc). Rnd 3: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (18 sc). Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (6 inc made-24 sc). Rnds 5-11 Continue to inc 6 sc on each rnd, having 1 more sc between inc on each rnd (66 sc on Rnd 11). Please note: this is a fairly standard form to tell how to make the increases. It sets up the first few rounds, then tells you to continue increasing in the same way, adding that this means there will be one additional stitch between increases in each round: Rnds 12-16 Sc in each sc.
Back: Rnd 17 *Sc in next 9 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (60 sc). Rnd 18: *Sc in ext 8 sc, dec 1; repeat (6 dec made-54 sc). Rnds 19-26: Continue to dec 6 sc on each rnd, having 1 less sc between dec on each rnd; stuff head as opening narrows. (Note Do not overstuff.) Fasten off, leaving 6" yarn end. Thread end in needle and weave through remaining 6 sts; draw sts together and securely fasten off.
MUZZLE: Work first 6 rnds as for head (36 sc). Rnds 7-8 Sc in each sc. Rnd 9: *Sc in 4 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (30 sc). Rnds 10-13: Continue to dec 6 sc on each rnd and stuff (6 sc). Fasten off and complete as for head.
EARS: Make 2. With A, ch 2. Row 1 Work 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn. Row 2 Work 2 sc in each sc across (6 sc). Ch 1, turn. Row 3 *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * across (9 sc). Ch 1, turn. Row 4 *Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * across (12 sc). Ch 1, turn. Rnd 5 *Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * across (15 sc). Ch 1, turn. Rnds 6-7 Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. Fasten off.
BODY: Work first 15 rnds as for head (66 sc). Rnd 16: *Sc in next 9 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (60 sc). Ch 1, join, turn. Rnds 17-20: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. Rnd 21: *Sc in next 8 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (54 sc). Ch 1, turn. Rnds 22-25: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. Rnd 26: Sc and dec 6 sc around. Ch 1, turn. Rnd 27: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. Rnds 28-35: Repeat Rnds 26-27 four times and stuff body as opening narrows (24 sc on Rnd 34). Rnds 36-38: Sc and dec 6 sc around (6 sc on Rnd 38). Fasten off and complete as for head.
ARMS: Make 2. Work first 4 rnds as for head. Rnd 5: Sc in back lp only of each sc around. Rnds 6-15: Working through both lps, sc in each sc around. When last rnd is completed, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.
LEGS: Make 2. Work first 5 rnds as for head. Rnd 6: Sc in back lp only of each sc around. Rnd 7-16: Working through both lps, sc in each sc around. When last rnd is completed, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.
EYES: Make 2. With B, ch 2. Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING: (Note: For sewing, use only short lengths of chenille to prevent frayed yarn.) Sew muzzle to lower front of head as shown in photograph. Sew base of ears to top of head, cupping ears slightly. Sew eyes to head. For nose, embroider inverted triangle with satin stitches. Embroider mouth with straight stitches. Sew head securely to body. Stuff arms and legs; sew to bear as shown so bear is balanced in sitting position. Tie ribbon bow around neck.

| This is a cute bear that works up fairly easy. I did think that it was a bit awkward trying to attach the body parts once stuffed but it looks cute finished.
