GAUGE:

One repeat = 4½ inches (11.5 cm) + 5 rows = 3 inches (7.5 cm) in Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

With A, ch 118. Work in rows, following Color Sequence.

Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch, (sc in next 5 ch, skip next 2 ch, sc in next 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch) 8 times, sc in next 6 ch. Fasten off. Do not turn.

Row 2 Working in back loops only, join yarn with slip st in first sc. Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, (sc in next 5 sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc) 8 times, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog. Turn.

Rows 3 and 4 Ch 1, working in both loops, sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, (sc in next 5 sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc) 8 times, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog. Turn. At end of Row 4, fasten off.

BORDER

Work 1 sc in end of each row along long edge, sc in opposite side of starting ch, working 3 sc in each point, sc in end of each row along other long edge, join with slip st to first sc of Row 101. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
