7 stitches + 9 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in single crochet. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. Hat is worked in the round without turning.
The last stitch of each round is joined to the first with a slip stitch, followed by a chain 1.
Chain 3 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring; chain 1.
Round 1 Work 5 (6) single crochet into ring, joining last stitch to first with a slip stitch; chain 1.
Round 2 Work 2 single crochet in each stitch around - 10 (12) stitches.
Round 3 *Single crochet in first single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from the * to end - 15 (18) stitches.
Round 4 *Single crochet in next 2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from the * to end - 20 (24) stitches.
Round 5 *Single crochet in next 3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from the * to end - 25 (30) stitches.
Round 6 *Single crochet in next 4 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet; repeat from the * to end - 30 (36) stitches.
