On The Fringe Moebius Scarf
Lion Brand® Incredible® - Glitterspun®
GAUGE: 4 sc = 3" [7.5 cm] with A on larger hook.
8 sc = 3" [7.5 cm] with B on smaller hook.
4 rows = 4" [10 cm] with A and B in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: Base ch/sc Start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in second ch from hook, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. There is now 1 sc with its own ch at the bottom. Work the next st under the loops of that ch. Insert hook under 2 loops at the bottom of the previous st, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. Repeat for the length of foundation. dtr (double treble crochet) Yarn over 3 times, insert hook into next stitch, yo and pull up a loop – 5 loops on hook. (Yo, pull through 2 loops) 4 times to complete the stitch. dtr2tog (double treble crochet 2 together) In same sc just worked, work dtr until 2 loops remain, skip next 2 sc, dtr in next sc until 3 loops remain on hook, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
|
NOTES: Moebius is a rectangle, given a half twist and joined at the ends. When joining yarn, leave approximately 12" [30.5 cm] long tails for tying scarf ends tog, forming "streamers".

MOBIUS Row 1 With A and larger hook, leaving 12" [30.5 cm] tail, Base ch/sc 61; turn.Row 2 Ch 1, sc in each sc across, fasten off A, leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail; turn. Row 3 With B and smaller hook, leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail, join with slip st in first sc, ch 5, dtr in next sc, [ch 5, dtr2tog] 19 times, ch 5, dtr2tog over sc just worked and last sc, skip 1 sc, fasten off B, leaving 12" [30.5 cm] tail; turn. Row 4 With A and larger hook, leaving a 12" [30.5 cm] tail, join with slip st in first dtr, ch 1, sc in same dtr, [2 sc in next ch-5 space, sc in next dtr] across; turn. Repeat Rows 2-4 for 4 more times, then Row 2 once – 6 ribbon stripes, 5 zig-zag rows.Finishing
Cut remainder of A into 24" [61 cm] lengths. Bring one narrow end of rectangle tog with other narrow end, giving a half twist. Use the loose tails at the ends of corresponding rows to tie the sides tog with an overhand knot. Wherever needed, loop extra lengths of A through the edges and knot along with the existing loose ends. Weave in ends that don't occur at the seam.

Wow! I made this for a dear friend, using Garden color ribbon yarn with a merino wool that matched the colors nicely.
I didn't attach it, just left it as a fabulous long scarf and added fringe to all the ends.
I highly recommend this for a fun creative and very pretty end project.
Thanks, LionBrand, I love your web site, yarn and patterns!
