Five-Panel Throw

Lion Brand® Homespun®

GAUGE:

10 dc = 4 in [10 cm].
Square = 8 in x 8 in [20.5 x 20.5 cm BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

PANEL – Make 3
With A, ch 21.
Row 1
Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 20 dc.
Row 2 Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each dc across; turn.
Repeat Row 2 until Panel measures 56" [142 cm] from beg. Fasten off.

SQUARE 1 – Make 1
With B, ch 6; join with slip st to form ring.
Rnd 1 (RS) Ch 3, 15 dc in ring; join with slip st in top of beg ch – 16 sts.
Rnd 2 Ch 4, (dc, ch 1) in each dc around; join with slip st in 3rd ch of beg ch – 16 ch1-spaces. Fasten off B.
Rnd 3 With RS facing, join C in first ch1-space, ch 3, dc in same space, ch 1, (dc, hdc) in next ch1-space, ch 1, 2 hdc in next ch1-space, ch 1, (hdc, dc) in next ch1-space, ch 1, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc, ch 1) in next ch1-space, (dc, hdc) in next ch1-space, ch 1, 2 hdc in next ch1-space, ch 1, (hdc, dc) in next ch1-space, ch 1; repeat from * 2 more times, 2 dc in same space as first dc, sc in first dc to form last ch1-space – 20 ch1-spaces.
Rnd 4 Ch 1, sc in same space, ch 2, (sc, ch 2) in each of next 4 ch1-spaces, *(sc, ch 4, sc) in next ch1-space, ch 2, (sc, ch 2) in each of next 4 ch1-spaces; repeat from * 2 more times, sc in same space as first sc, ch 2, hdc in first sc to form last ch4-space – 4 corner ch4-spaces; 5 ch2-spaces on each side. Fasten off B.
Rnd 5 With RS facing, join D in any corner space, ch 3, dc in same space, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1) in each of next 5 ch2-spaces, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch4-space, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1) in each of next 5 ch2-spaces; repeat from * 2 more times, 2 dc in same space as first dc, ch 1, sc in first dc to form last ch2-space – 4 corner ch2-spaces; 6 ch1-spaces on each side.
Rnd 6 Ch 3, dc in same space, skip next dc, dc in each dc and each ch1-space across to next ch2-space, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch2-space, skip next dc, dc in each dc and each ch1-space across to next ch2-space; repeat from * 2 more times, 2 dc in same space as first dc, ch 2; join with slip st in top of beg ch – 4 corner ch2-spaces; 23 dc on each side. Fasten off C.

SQUARE 2 – Make 2
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with C; Rnds 3-4 with A; Rnds 5-6 with B.

SQUARE 3 – Make 2
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with A; Rnds 3-4 with D; Rnds 5-6 with C.

SQUARE 4 – Make 2
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with D; Rnds 3-4 with A; Rnds 5-6 with B.

SQUARE 5 – Make 1
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with D; Rnds 3-4 with C; Rnds 5-6 with B.

SQUARE 6 – Make 2
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with B; Rnds 3-4 with A; Rnds 5-6 with D.

SQUARE 7 – Make 2
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with A; Rnds 3-4 with C; Rnds 5-6 with D.

SQUARE 8 – Make 2
Work as for Square 1 in the following color sequence: Center ring and Rnds 1-2 with B; Rnds 3-4 with A; Rnds 5-6 with C.


FINISHING
Sew Throw together following Construction Diagram.

BORDER
Rnd 1 (RS)
With RS facing, join C in first dc to the left of corner ch2-space on top right corner of Throw, ch 2 (counts as first dc), work 99 dc evenly spaced across top edge, 3 dc in corner, 114 dc across side edge, 3 dc in corner, 100 dc across bottom edge, 3 dc in corner, 114 dc along side edge, 3 dc in corner; join with slip st in top of beg ch.
Rnd 2 Ch 2, dc in each dc around, working 3 dc in each corner dc; join with slip st in top of beg ch. Fasten off C.
Rnd 3 With RS facing, join A in first dc to the left of any corner dc, *ch 3, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * around, ending with ch 3; join with slip st in same dc as joining. Fasten off A.
Rnd 4 With RS facing, join B in same dc as previous rnd, *ch 3, remove loop from hook, insert hook under ch3-loop of previous rnd, draw dropped loop through, yarn over and draw through loop on hook; repeat from * around; sc in same dc as joining. Fasten off B.

Interesting and easy. I also sampled different squares for the fun of it. LB Suede made it really soft to work with.
