GAUGE: Each Square = approx 6.4 in. x 6.4 in. Each Section = approx 12 in. x 12 in. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: NOTE: Following instructions, make 48 basic squares. Then follow the assembly diagram for the throw of your choice.
BASIC SQUARE (make 48): With A, ch 17.
Row 1: With A, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across -- 16 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: With A, sc in each of first 15 sc; with B, sc in next sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: With B, sc in each of first 2 sc; with A, sc in each of next 14 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: With A, sc in each of first 13 sc; with B, sc in each of next 3 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: With B, sc in each of first 4 sc; with A, sc in each of next 12 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 6: With A, sc in each of first 11 sc; with B, sc in each of next 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 7: With B, sc in each of first 6 sc; with A, sc in each of next 10 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 8: With A, sc in each of first 9 sc; with B, sc in each of next 7 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 9: With B, sc in each of first 8 sc; with A, sc in each of next 8 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 10: With A, sc in each of first 7 sc; with B, sc in each of next 9 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 11: With B, sc in each of first 10 sc; with A, sc in each of next 6 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 12: With A, sc in each of first 5 sc; with B, sc in each of next 11 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 13: With B, sc in each of first 12 sc; with A, sc in each of next 4 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 14: With A, sc in each of first 3 sc; with B, sc in each of next 13 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 15: With B, sc in each of first 14 sc; with A, sc in each of next 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 16: With A, sc in first sc; with B, sc in each of next 15 sc. Ch 1, turn. Row 17: With B, sc in each of the 16 sc across. Fasten off.

Border: Rnd 1: With RS facing, join A with a sl st in any corner of throw, work 1 rnd sc, working 3 sc in each corner. Cont in same manner working 1 more rnd with A, then 1 rnd with
B. Fasten off
