10 dc = 4" with one strand of Homespun and K hook When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Center and sew the long side edge Face onto the center of the long side edge of Body (see diagram).
Fold in half and sew tog the bottom of the Face and the remaining edge of the same side of the Body.
Sew the other side of the Body tog, leaving the bottom edge open.

Using your crochet hook, pull up a loop 1 - 2" long under and through dc sts, making sure to catch both strands of yarn; remove hook.

Holding top of fringe tog, slide yarn off cardboard.
Using fingers or crochet hook, reach through dc from back to front of Body and pull top of fringe through.
