9 dc + 5 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] with Homespun on smaller hook.
9 dc + 5.5 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] with Incredible on larger hook. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

With larger hook and Incredible, work as for Day Half with the following changes:
Add one even row (no increases) after Rows 12 and 22 so that Night half has 33 rows total instead of 31.
Add one more even row at end of Cowl so that Night neck has 17 rows total instead of 16.
Cowl Neck Holding wrong sides together and working on right side, sew Cowl seams (joining Day half to Night half).
Back Seam Turn piece inside out so right sides are together.
Working on wrong side, sew seam from neck to bottom edge.
Front Seam/Opening For front seam, sew first 7 rows from neck down.
Fasten off, leaving remaining edges unsewn.
