GAUGE:

5 V-Sts and 7 rows = 5½ [14 cm]
Gauge Swatch: 6"w x 5½" h [5.25 cm x 14 cm] BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Editor’s Note: When creating fringe using Homespun please note that because of the texture of the yarn the fringe will fray when cut. If you prefer a non-frayed look you can knot the ends, knit or crochet a fringe, or use hairspray or fray check.

Prayer Shawl / Healing Shawl Reviewed by Mank Marybeth on 2010-03-05 *****
I LOVE this pattern. It works up so easily and quickly. I have just five more rows to go on the second half. I think I will do what one user did - single crochet around the edges with a picot trim on narrow ends. I'll take a picture when it is finished and upload later. I think the next time I do this pattern, I will just continue on rather than making two halves. That would be so much easier. :-)

A note to the individual complaining of the yarm splitting: I actually used an M hook to combat that problem. The hook called for in the pattern was too small for that type of yarn. I think another user mentioned she had used an N hook, too.

A note to the user who mentioned she wished it were wider: Because I used a larger hook, mine is actually wider than what the pattern states. You might also try to figure out what the mupltiple would be and add additional foundation chain stitches to make it wider. I have tried to do that with some thin cashmere yarn I have, but I haven't quite perfected it yet. I'll keep trying, though.

Thank you to the user who included the prayer. That was very sweet and thoughtful of you. :-) May all of you have a blessed day!
