GAUGE:
16.5 sts + 16 rows = 4 inches (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

INSTRUCTIONS



PATTERN STITCH - Multiple of 2 sts Row 1 Skip 3 ch, 2 sc in next ch, *skip 1 ch, 2 sc in next ch; repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. Row 2 *Skip 1 st, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. Repeat Row 2 for pattern. TISSUE BOX HOLDER Ch 22. Beg with pattern Row 1, work even in pattern on 20 sts for 22 rows. Using a separate strand of yarn, ch 24 and join with a slip st to top of last row at opposite end of working strand. At working end, ch 26. Continue in pattern working Row 1 over chs and Row 2 over center 20 sts - 68 sts. Continue in pattern for a total of 4 rows. Shape Top Opening Working each side separately, work 32 sts, turn. Dec 1 sc at beg of next row, then at same edge every row 2 more times. Work 4 rows even. Inc 1 st at same edge as decs every row 3 times. Fasten off. Work other side (remaining 32 sts) to correspond. Joining Work across 32 sts, ch 4, work across remaining 32 sts. Work in pattern over 68 sts for a total of 20 rows. Cut yarn. Join yarn with a slip st 24 sts in from side edge, ch 2, then work in pattern over center 20 sts. Work for 22 rows on these 20 sts. Fasten off. Finishing Overcast the 4 seams invisibly on WS. Work 1 round reverse sc (working from left to right), around bottom of Tissue Box Holder. Work 1 round sc around top opening. WASHCLOTH Ch 30. Work in pattern st, inc 1 st each end every row 2 times. Work even in pattern until 7 1/4" from beg. Dec 1 st each end every row 2 times. Fasten off. Finishing Ch 1, then work 1 round sc, easing around corners, and at last corner, ch 12 and slip st in beg ch for hanging loop. Fasten off.
