GAUGE:
6-st repeat + 4 rows = 1 3/4 inches (4.5 cm) in Pattern. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
(pattern begins below)
Base ch/sc
(Note This method creates a base chain and foundation row of sc at the same time.)
Start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw up loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops - 1 single crochet with its own chain at bottom.

Work next stitch under loops of that chain.

Insert hook under 2 loops at bottom of previous stitch, draw up loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops.

Repeat for length of foundation.
