GAUGE:

Flower = approximately 3½-4 inches [9-10 cm] across. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Ch 3; join with slip st to form ring.
Rnd 1 Ch 1, work 8 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc – 8 sc.
Rnd 2 Ch 1, (sc, ch 3) in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc – 8 ch3-spaces.
Rnd 3 Ch 1, *sc in sc, 4 dc in next ch3-space; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 8 petals.
Rnd 4 Ch 1, working behind petals in previous rnd, *working between center 2 dc of next petal, sc in next ch3-space 2 rnds below, ch 3; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 8 ch3-spaces.
Rnd 5 Ch 1, *sc in sc, 6 dc in next ch3-space; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 8 petals.
Rnd 6 Repeat Rnd 4.
Rnd 7 Ch 1, *sc in sc, 8 dc in next ch3-space; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 8 petals. Fasten off.
