GAUGE:
15 stitches = 4 inches [10 cm]; 8 rows = 3 inches [7.5 cm] in hdc. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

INSTRUCTIONS
Scarves 1 and 2
With A, ch 23.
Row 1
Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across, trun – 22 sts.
Row 2
Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across, hdc in 2nd ch of turning ch, turn – 22 sts.
Rep Row 2, working in the following color sequence: 13 more rows A; *15 rows B; 15 rows A; rep from * 3 times; then work 15 rows B.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Scarves 3 and 4
With A, ch 23.
Row 1
Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across, trun – 22 sts.
Row 2
Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across, hdc in 2nd ch of turning ch, turn – 22 sts.
Rep Row 2, working in the following color sequence: 14 more rows A; *2 rows B; 2 rows A; 2 rows B; 16 rows A; rep from * 5 times.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
FINISHING
FRINGE
Cut strands of yarn approximately 9" [23 cm] long.
For each fringe, hold 1 strands of yarn together and fold in half.
Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of garment, forming a loop.
Pull ends of fringe through this loop.
Pull to tighten.
Make 27 fringes evenly across each end of scarf, alternating colors.
Trim fringe if necessary.
