GAUGE:
14.5 stitches = 4" [10 cm] in stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) on larger needle before felting. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.


INSTRUCTIONS



BAG With larger needles, cast on 90 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch for40" (101.5 cm). Bind off. Fold in half widthwise with wrong sides together.Using crochet hook, slip stitch side seams together. Ruffles With double-pointed needles, cast on 6 stitches. *Slide stitches to otherend of double-pointed needle and knit them, pulling yarn tightly across the backof the work. (Do not turn work.) Repeat from * until cord measures 20 feet (6m). With crochet hook, use slip stitch to attach cord around opening of Bag,making the loops approximately 6-7" (15-18 cm) long. Felting Wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and severalpieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regularsetting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and lay flat to shape. Formore about felting, click here. Finishing Thread large-eyed, blunt needle with yarn and sew handles securely to top ofBag. Fold lower corners up as shown and tack in place. Cut ribbon in half andglue to center points at top of Bag. Tie in bow.
