GAUGE:

12 sts to 4 in. [10 cm] over sc using size K/10.5 [6.5mm] crochet hook (before felting) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Place in washer the pillowcase cover, board, bag and also a pair of jeans to provide abrasion and balanced agitation. Use 15–20 minute wash cycle, including cold rinse and spin. Check measurements of pieces. If they are still bigger than finished measurements, repeat process with progressively shorter cycles, measuring every few minutes until measurements are achieved.
