GAUGE:
3 sts=1". BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Criss Cross Stitch Weaving Pattern #1
(white yarn shows weaving pattern)
Step 1: With yarn coming from the top 1st needle,bring down to the lower 4th needle.
Weave the yarn across the boards, skippingevery other needle.
Step 2: At the end of the board, bring the yarnstraight across the end needles.
Step 3: Wrap back to beginning by covering allneedles.
Step 4: Hook over all needles.
Weaving Pattern #2
Step 1: Start at needle #1 back board and bring down toneedle #3 on front board.
Then weave the yarn back to top board,needle #2, and down to needle #5 on front board.
Step 2: From this point, weave every other needle toend of board. Last 2 needles will beconsecutive.
At end of the row, take yarn straight across totop board. Turn board around.td>
Step 3: Continue covering all needles to beginning ofboard.
Hook over all needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
CHUNKY FOOTIES
Cast On 24 (26) 28 stitches in Criss Cross Stitch. Lay anchor yarn with matching yarn.
All sizes:
Knit in CrissCross Stitch for 10 rows.
Increase row: Inc (1) stitch each end of board between the 2nd and 3rd stitch. Knit row.
Knit 6 (6) 8 regular rows.
Repeat (1) additional Increase row.
Size large only:
Knit (1) regular row. Knit (1) additional increase row.
All sizes:
Knit 4 (6) 8 regular rows in CrissCross.
Cut working yarn leaving 3-4" tail.
Adding new stitches for cuff:
Place new loop knot on empty needle that is (4) needles to left of knitting.
Weave in Crisscross over to yarn tail and tie together.
Continue weaving across the existing stitches and continue weaving the (4) empty needles to right end of board.
Return the weaving across the entire board.
You now have (1) loop on the first and last (4) needles. You have (2) loops on the center stitches.
Hook over the center original stitches.
Do nothing to the new stitches until after the next rowwhen you will have (2) loops on all needles used.
Knit additional 9 (9) 11 regular rows to complete the cuff.
Cut working yarn.
Tuck in yarn tail.
Repeat instructions to make second footie.
